🎉 A New Option for Mobility, Arthritis, and Recovery Support at Horizon Veterinary
Many pets in our community struggle with mobility challenges long before they can see a rehabilitation specialist. Some need more support than a standard veterinary appointment can provide. Others need help completing at-home exercises or staying on track with a recovery plan. Until now, there has been little available between routine primary care and fully specialized rehabilitation.
To help bridge that gap, Horizon Veterinary has introduced Recovery & Vitality Integrated Care (RVIC™)—a structured, credentialed, mid-level support service designed to help pets move better, feel better, and recover more comfortably.
RVIC™ is a continuation of Horizon’s Accessible Care model and brings together mobility care, arthritis support, chronic pain guidance, senior vitality, postoperative recovery pathways, and noninvasive therapeutic services in one coordinated area of the clinic.
Why This Service Was Created
Across our region, both pet owners and veterinary practices have expressed the same need:
a reliable, affordable, clinically supervised option for mobility and recovery support.
Many pets fall into a “care gap.” These cases often involve:
-
Early arthritis or subtle mobility decline
-
Senior pets losing strength and comfort
-
Postoperative patients who need frequent help regaining function
-
Pets whose families cannot complete daily home exercises alone
-
Patients needing consistent noninvasive therapeutic sessions
-
Pets enrolled in specialty rehabilitation but needing daily support
These patients benefit greatly from credentialed, structured, mid-level guidance—care that enhances the treatment plan without replacing the primary veterinarian or the rehabilitation specialist.
What RVIC™ Provides
RVIC™ is not specialty care, and it is not intended to replace board-certified rehabilitation. Instead, it adds a crucial layer of support:
-
Mobility and arthritis guidance
-
Chronic pain monitoring
-
Senior vitality and comfort planning
-
Structured postoperative mobility recovery
-
Laser therapy and other noninvasive modalities
-
Myofascial and trigger point support (Coming Soon)
-
Home exercise coaching and continued owner education
-
Daily movement support for patients enrolled in specialty rehab
These services are performed by a Licensed Veterinary Technician with focused interest and formal ongoing training in mobility and arthritis care, serving as our Mobility and Arthritis Care Lead. All work is done under direct veterinary supervision, and all diagnoses, prognoses, treatment plans, and medication decisions remain the responsibility of a veterinarian as required in Texas.
For Referring Veterinary Practices
RVIC™ supports, strengthens, and extends the care you are already providing.
A Key Clarification
Horizon Veterinary does not accept new general practice clients through referral.
When a mobility, arthritis, or postoperative case is referred to us:
-
The patient remains your client
-
You continue to direct their medical care
-
After completing the RVIC™ plan, the patient returns to your hospital
Our role is supportive, not competitive.
Support for Patients Already in Specialty Rehabilitation
Many families struggle with the daily demands of at-home rehabilitation programs, even when working with a board-certified rehabilitation specialist. These programs often require:
-
Daily exercises
-
Frequent therapeutic sessions
-
Owner confidence in handling and positioning
-
Regular monitoring to prevent setbacks
RVIC™ provides daily movement support for pets actively enrolled in specialty rehabilitation. We reinforce the specialist’s plan, support families through the daily routine, and help maintain comfort and progress between specialty appointments.
This strengthens specialty rehabilitation—it does not replace it.
When a patient’s needs exceed mid-level care, we recommend referral or continued specialty oversight.
Appropriate Cases for RVIC™
RVIC™ may be the right fit for pets who need:
-
Early arthritis and mobility monitoring
-
Senior comfort and vitality planning
-
Postoperative mobility recovery
-
Support between specialty rehab visits
-
Chronic pain guidance
-
Laser therapy or noninvasive therapeutic sessions
-
Myofascial or trigger point support (Coming Soon)
-
Weight and lifestyle mobility management
-
Home exercise coaching and reinforcement

Understanding Integrative Therapies for Pets
While traditional veterinary care is essential for keeping your pet healthy, we also offer integrative therapies to complement your pet's treatment plans. Integrative therapies rely on the body's natural healing processes, addressing a range of concerns and promoting overall health and well-being.
At Horizon Veterinary | Recovery & Vitality Institute located inside of the Animal Clinic & Surgical Center, we offer the following alternative therapies to complement our traditional veterinary treatments:

Skin wounds and infections
Chronic ear inflammation
Post-surgical healing
Arthritis and joint stiffness
Dental inflammation and gingivitis

🔦 BioStim™ Therapy (K-Laser Class IV Laser Technology)
Cold laser therapy isn’t all created equal. While most clinics use outdated tech, Horizon uses the K-Laser Live 50—the same advanced laser technology adapted from human medical devices used by the National Institute of Pain. With multi-wavelength delivery and real-time tissue sensing, our laser is built for deeper, faster healing and real results.
Why settle for flashlight therapy at other vet clinics when you can have Horizon’s K-Laser Live 50?
Combines targeted electrical stimulation and deep-penetrating laser light to:
🔹 Reduce pain and inflammation
🔹 Improve circulation and oxygen delivery
🔹 Stimulate cellular regeneration and soft tissue healing

🔹 Enhancing blood flow and reducing inflammation
🔹 Promoting tissue regeneration and repair
🔹 Accelerating healing of surgical sites, chronic wounds, and dermatitis
Commonly used for:
-
Surgical incisions
-
Lick granulomas
-
Hot spots and dermatitis
-
Pressure sores
-
Chronic or slow-healing wounds
🔊 SonoPulse™ represents the newest innovation in wave therapy for small animal medicine. Unlike traditional focused shockwave devices, SonoPulse™ delivers radial pressure waves—a gentler, non-invasive form of therapeutic acoustic stimulation designed to accelerate healing, reduce pain, and improve mobility in dogs and cats.
Acupuncture: Acupuncture is an alternative therapy rooted in ancient Chinese medicine, and we partner with local veterinary acupuncturists to provide these services. The alternative therapy involves inserting ultra-thin needles into specific trigger points in your furry friend's muscles, tendons, connective tissues, or nerve fibers. The non-drug therapy has been show to promote healing and provide pain relief. It also stimulates endorphins, which are the body's natural painkillers, while boosting serotonin levels, which helps anxiety and promotes a sense of well-being.
Acupuncture works alongside traditional veterinary therapies, helping manage pain, reduce inflammation, and promote overall wellness. It can help treat a host of health concerns including arthritis, hip dysplasia, degenerative joint disease, asthma, metabolic diseases, chronic constipation, kidney disease, and more. Acupuncture has brought lasting relief to humans over the years and is now gaining recognition in veterinary benefits as an effect complementary therapy for a range of concerns.
Herbal Medicine: Herbs have been recognized for centuries for their healing properties and their role in promoting healing and restoring balance to the body. Alternative therapies draw on the enhanced benefits of using the whole plant rather than isolating some of its components as with traditional pharmaceutical remedies.
Rehabilitation: Specialized care that involves a variety of treatments and exercises that improve movement, reduce pain, and build strength. Whether your pet is healing from an injury, surgery, or coping with arthritis, rehab can make a big difference. Offered when specialist availability allows.
With a personalized plan designed just for your pet, we work to help them move more easily, feel comfortable, and live a happier, more active life.
Nutritional Therapy: Proper nutrition is the foundation of good health. We create customized dietary plans, focusing on species-appropriate nutrition and supplements, to optimize your pet’s well-being.
