Many pets in our community struggle with mobility challenges long before they can see a rehabilitation specialist. Some need more support than a standard veterinary appointment can provide. Others need help completing at-home exercises or staying on track with a recovery plan. Until now, there has been little available between routine primary care and fully specialized rehabilitation.

To help bridge that gap, Horizon Veterinary has introduced Recovery & Vitality Integrated Care (RVIC™)—a structured, credentialed, mid-level support service designed to help pets move better, feel better, and recover more comfortably.

RVIC™ is a continuation of Horizon’s Accessible Care model and brings together mobility care, arthritis support, chronic pain guidance, senior vitality, postoperative recovery pathways, and noninvasive therapeutic services in one coordinated area of the clinic.

Why This Service Was Created

Across our region, both pet owners and veterinary practices have expressed the same need:
a reliable, affordable, clinically supervised option for mobility and recovery support.

Many pets fall into a “care gap.” These cases often involve:

• Early arthritis or subtle mobility decline

• Senior pets losing strength and comfort

• Postoperative patients who need frequent help regaining function

• Pets whose families cannot complete daily home exercises alone

• Patients needing consistent noninvasive therapeutic sessions

• Pets enrolled in specialty rehabilitation but needing daily support

These patients benefit greatly from credentialed, structured, mid-level guidance—care that enhances the treatment plan without replacing the primary veterinarian or the rehabilitation specialist.

What RVIC™ Provides

RVIC™ is not specialty care, and it is not intended to replace board-certified rehabilitation. Instead, it adds a crucial layer of support:

• Mobility and arthritis guidance

• Chronic pain monitoring

• Senior vitality and comfort planning

• Structured postoperative mobility recovery

• Laser therapy and other noninvasive modalities

• Myofascial and trigger point support (Coming Soon)

• Home exercise coaching and continued owner education

• Daily movement support for patients enrolled in specialty rehab

These services are performed by a Licensed Veterinary Technician with focused interest and formal ongoing training in mobility and arthritis care, serving as our Mobility and Arthritis Care Lead. All work is done under direct veterinary supervision, and all diagnoses, prognoses, treatment plans, and medication decisions remain the responsibility of a veterinarian as required in Texas.

A Key Clarification

Horizon Veterinary does not accept new general practice clients through referral.
When a mobility, arthritis, or postoperative case is referred to us:

• The patient remains your client

• You continue to direct their medical care

• After completing the RVIC™ plan, the patient returns to your hospital

Our role is supportive, not competitive.

Support for Patients Already in Specialty Rehabilitation

Many families struggle with the daily demands of at-home rehabilitation programs, even when working with a board-certified rehabilitation specialist. These programs often require:

• Daily exercises

• Frequent therapeutic sessions

• Regular monitoring to prevent setbacks

RVIC™ provides daily movement support for pets actively enrolled in specialty rehabilitation. We reinforce the specialist’s plan, support families through the daily routine, and help maintain comfort and progress between specialty appointments.

This strengthens specialty rehabilitation—it does not replace it.
When a patient’s needs exceed mid-level care, we recommend referral or continued specialty oversight.
